Defensive players can’t run to a base to get an offensive player out unless they are the defensive player assigned to that position
Example 1: The pitcher can’t run to 1st base to get the runner out. They have to throw the ball to the 1st baseman
Example 2: The shortstop can run to tag 2nd base because they are playing the middle infield, but can’t run to 3rd base. They must throw it to the 3rd baseman
Outfielders must stay in the outfield
Infielders must start in the dirt color...no playing in for any hitter until the ball is hit
Rule Amendment
Player Positioning - Advanced Skills Division 1. All infield players must remain in the dirt colored area prior to a ball being hit. Only the pitcher is allowed in the grass colored area before the ball is hit. Once the ball is hit, the infielders can charge in to field a ground ball. *Effective Fall 2019
