PACK THE PARK
In 2022, the Joe Nuxhall Foundation hosted a group of athletes from Casey's Clubhouse and the South Hills of Pittsburgh. Words can't describe the experience they provided us that day (see video below). After the tears of joy were wiped from our face, we were given unbelievable memories that will last a lifetime.
This summer, on Saturday, August 24, it is our turn to welcome them to Pittsburgh! We need you, the community, to step up to the plate and show up to PACK THE PARK. Over 2,000 people showed up to welcome us to Cincinnati. Let's show them how Yinzers like to party! Timeline of Events:
8:00am - 8:45am - Arrive at Boyce Mayivew Park
9:30am - Opening Ceremonies with speakers, announcement of athletes, ceremonial first pitch, and National Anthem 10:00am - Games and activities begin

"For years, Vivi and Titus have spent countless hours watching their brother play travel baseball in all different tournaments in different parts of PA, MD, and even Cooperstown, NY. They have been (mostly) patient and willing and have had fun, but it was never something they could participate in. This weekend it was their turn. They got to be part of the very first travel team for any Miracle League anywhere in the country. It was hands down one of the most special weekends we have ever had. On Friday, three South Hills Miracle teams set off for Cincinnati. We had a police escort all the way to 79. We got to go to the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame and spent time with Sean Casey, who shared memories of baseball with us and patiently answered all kinds of questions about his career. We finished with practice and a pizza party at the ML fields in Fairfield, OH.
And then Saturday. Saturday was phenomenal, incredible, almost indescribable. There wasn’t a dry eye in the place as our team got off the bus at the fields to the cheers of hundreds of people. There were speeches and tears as people talked about how long this Miracle League Series was in the works and how important it was for the kids to have an opportunity like this to travel and play. And then they played. They played to big crowds who yelled and cheered for them. They each got hits off of Sean Casey and got to field balls. They were celebrated and they were loved and they got to play. It was pure magic from beginning to end. And the whole thing was arranged by people who have nothing to gain. All they want to do is give back to their communities and give every kid something simple and basic: a chance to play baseball. And that’s exactly what our teams got to do. Thank you, Miracle League of the South Hills, PA and The Joe Nuxhall Miracle League Fields, and Sean Casey, for a weekend that Vivi and Titus and Micah and I, along with all of the other travel families, will never forget. Thank you for changing the world and making it so much better." - A South Hills Mom |
