"Every Person Deserves The Chance To Play Baseball"
2021 Spring/Summer Season Registration - COVID Protocols
In order for us to have a safe, fun summer season, all participants and their families must agree to the following COVID-19 safety protocols. We have consulted with the National Miracle League office, the township up Upper St. Clair, as well as other area Miracle Leagues and have come up with the following requirements. These safety measures ALL need to be followed in order to participate including those who already have the vaccine.
If you and your family are not able to or are not willing to agree to comply with ALL of the COVID protocols, we ask that you please sit this season out and join us in for the 2021 fall season.
The season will start later (June) to give a little more time for the vaccine roll out to take place
The schedule will include spaced out games so there is no overlap and include more weeknight games to accommodate the schedule
Teams will play the same team every week
No pre-game or post-game traditions will occur (National Anthem, Hand Shake Line, etc)
No practice nights for the Advanced Skills Division
Concession stand will not be open and water coolers will not be in the dugout. Athletes will have to bring their own individual water bottle (some bottled water will be available)
Volunteers will be limited to coaches, one announcer, and interns. No Buddies (see Buddy Page under the volunteer tab), score keepers, bat boys/girls, game day assistants, photographers, etc.
If a player needs a buddy, an immediate family member (mom, dad, brother, sister) can serve as the buddy for that player
If a player doesn't need a buddy, the coaches will be on the field to assist them
In order to keep teams smaller, we may have to move athletes to a different team for this spring season (they can rejoin their old team if they choose in the fall)
On-Field COVID Protocols Masks
Every person on the field will be required to wear a mask that covers their nose and mouth
We respectfully ask all people in and around the field, fans, parents, siblings, etc to wear a mask while watching the games
No helmets for the Miracle Division
Helmets must be worn in the Advanced Skills league due to the use of aluminum bats, however, helmets will not be shared by teammate and cleaned after every game...we highly encourage those athletes that have their own helmet to bring it
Bats will be wiped down throughout the game by coaches and/or interns
Baseballs will be switched out so each game has unused or disinfected baseballs to start their game
Temporary tents will be placed on the field down the left and right field lines to extend the dugouts so each player can have a place in the shade to sit and maintain social distancing when resting (like the NBA benches)
We respectfully ask that families don't invite people outside their immediate families to come watch the games in person
If a player/coach/volunteer contracts COVID-19
Person should contact Executive Director Tim Gebhart immediately at 412-660-4454 or email@example.com
While maintaining privacy of the person, teams will be notified that a person tested positive and their games will be cancelled for the following week
Players, coaches, & volunteers who were deemed in close contact will have to provide proof of a negative COVID test before their next scheduled game
Entering the Field
Prior to walking on the field, you will be asked by a coach/intern if you are feeling well and healthy
If anyone in the athletes family is showing any symptoms of sickness, we ask that you don't come to the field that day
COVID-19 Code of Conduct will have to be agreed upon during the registration process
Before entering the field, all persons must use the provided hand sanitizer or go to the bathroom to wash their hands
Make sure to follow these mask guidelines. Please don't make a coach, volunteer, intern, or Executive Director Tim Gebhart ask you to put on a mask. Please just do it, so we can make sure these kids and adults get to PLAY BALL for the duration of the season.
